Shabby chic decor often includes a lot of white and off white. It does not have to be solid white, although that is a common theme. Any color scheme intended to have the shabby chic look can be enhanced by adding white accents. Crown molding, bead board walls, or even much smaller accents pieces like vases, flowers or small tables.
Existing furniture can often be painted white and sanded in the right places to give it the aged look common to this style of decor. For the kitchen or dining room, just add tablecloths. Lacy options can be placed over a color table cloth, letting the color peek through the white lace for just a hint of white rather than solid white.
Adding white accents opens up the color pallette to pretty much any color you like as the primary theme. The white accents soften the look and is attractive in shabby chic decor.
