I am a sophomore and live in Bridgeport, West Virginia. My Papaw grew up in Ward, but his family moved to Kimberly, WV when he was 10 or 11. I have begun working on a book about Ward and focused on preserving the spirit of Ward through memories my Papaw has shared with me.
However, I would love to talk to some others who have memories of growing up in Ward or stories from others. I have been wishing to attend a Ward Reunion for a few years, but have been unable to make it to one. I would love to gain any information available or suggestions for people to talk to.
    Thank you so much!

My name is Darla (Rider) Kauffman and I just stumbled on your website when I searched for Lottie Wills Rider online. My Grandpa was Eugene Rider making my Great-Grandpa Honzura Rider. My daughter is in 4-H now working on Genealogy. I’ll be looking over some things you have here to see if I can help her. I have never seen the picture you have of Mommy & Poppy … I only have a couple from my Dad.
I’d love to chat with you sometime.

    Hi Darla,

I’m sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment on my blog…I missed the email notification about this one. I remember Eugene! Saw him a number of times at my grandmother’s house (Helen Rider), he was my grandfather’s brother (my dad’s uncle). I think we may have visited them once when I was really small in Indiana? Is that right? Did they live there for a while? Anyway I don’t have an abundance of information myself, just what I’ve been able to piece together here on the Internet. I got the pictures you mention from one little trip to WV where Eugene’s sister agreed to let my cousin scan a pile of family photos she had. I wish I had others but these are better than none. The same woman had a photo of Lottie’s mother and grandmother I believe but they were portrait sized and framed (I think – not sure about that, it’s been several years ago now) and so we couldn’t scan those so easily and she didn’t want us to take them with us. I do intend to post more – working my way through my family tree a person at a time and intending to post images with the bio of each person. Who knows when I will get it done though…my work keeps me extremely busy now. I’m on Facebook if you wanna chat at some point – I run the West Virginia Genealogy group.
